I always like to make a new cookie, dessert or snack for Christmas. I tried this recipe last year and it is as addictive as drugs! Once you taste it, you’re addicted. One handful leads to another handful and before you know it – the whole bowl is gone and there’s none for anyone else! Yes, I’ve done that with this Christmas Crack Snack! Very tasty.
Christmas Crack Snack
- 4 cups Corn Chex (about half a box)
- 4 cups Golden Grahams (about half a box)
- 2 cups shredded coconut
- 1/2 cup slivered almonds
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup corn syrup
Combine the two cereals, coconut and almonds in a large mixing bowl. In a medium pot, combine the butter, sugar and corn syrup over medium heat. Let cook, stirring constantly, until it reaches the soft ball stage. About 235 degrees F on a candy thermometer.
Pour the sugar mixture over the cereal mixture and stir until well combined. Spread out the Christmas Crack on a cookie sheet and leave for a couple hours until set. It won’t completely dry out, there will be a little stickiness left.
Store in a metal snack tin with a tight fitting lid.
