DIY face masks & moisturizers

Our faces go through times of change; dry skin, dark spots, pimple outbreaks or acne. We all go to the store and buy lots of products to help with these conditions. Did you know you can make your own masks and moisturizers at home for much less the price of store-bought items. Making masks and moisturizers yourself also has the benefit of no added chemicals or fragrances.

All the ingredients to the masks I’m going to share with you are natural and probably what you have in your house right now.

Raw honey is best to use for face masks as it nourishes your skin and has healing properties.

Honey is an effective antibacterial agent and naturally absorbs excess oil which helps to prevent acne. It also has a lot of enzymes, vitamins and antiseptic properties that are great for your skin. Honey is a great ingredient to use to fight dry skin and help rejuvenate the skin which leads to less fine lines and wrinkles. Almost like a youth serum! Lots of store-bought beauty products include honey as an ingredient and now we know why.

Here are some easy to make masks & moisturizers you’ll love!

Raw Honey Mask for Acne

  • 1 teaspoon raw honey

Gently spread over entire face. Leave for 15 – 30 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water. Pat face dry.

Face Mask for Dry Skin

  • 1 teaspoon mashed avocado
  • 1 teaspoon plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon raw honey

Mix ingredients together. Spread mixture over entire face. Leave for 20 – 30 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water. Pat face dry.

The fats in avocados and yogurt are deep moisturizers. The lactic acid in yogurt smooths skin and refines pores and stimulates collagen production.

Honey & Aloe Vera Gel Mask – soothing mask

  • 2 teaspoons raw honey
  • 1 teaspoon aloe vera gel

Mix honey and aloe together. Apply over entire face. Leave for 10 – 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Pat face dry.

Aloe soothes inflammation and calms the skin. Aloe is a “go-to” for most people after sun exposure.

Honey & Lemon Juice Mask – fades dark spots & scars

  • 2 teaspoons raw honey
  • 1 /2 teaspoon lemon juice

Combine honey and lemon juice. Apply over entire face. Leave for 20 – 30 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Pat face dry.

Lemon juice exfoliates your skin, brightens dark spots and fades scars.

**Limit using this mask to 1 – 2 times per week due to the lemon juice being a stronger ingredient.

Your skin will feel smooth right away but will take a few applications to notice a change in scars and dark spots.

There you have it, easy DIY face masks that will moisturize your face and save you money.
